August 20, 2010 - Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Montreal Juniors
Greenfield Park - It was at the sold out Cynthia Coull arena in Greenfield Park, that the Montreal Juniors faced off against the Gatineau Olympiques, marking the first of five preseason games of the 2010-2011 hockey season.
Gatineau native, Mathieu Gagnon, stood out in the first period, scoring the first two goals for his hometown. In return, Dylan Anderson of the Montreal Juniors scored the first point for the team.
In the second, Alex Gagnon, of Gatineau, and Michael Clarke of the Juniors scored, respectively, the only two goals of the period. Alex Micalef of Montreal was also expelled from the game, having instigated a fight with Mathieu Talbot of the opposing team.
The third period was an exciting one, as the Juniors scored five points; two by Jean-Charles Laflamme, one by Samuel Aquin, a second of the evening for Michael Clarke, and one by veteran Montreal Junior player, Eliezer Sherbatov, after having been down five goals to three at the beginning of the third. Jacob Conrad, of the Olympiques, added the only goal for the team in this period, making the final score 7-5 for the Montreal Juniors.
The Montreal Juniors will be marking the official start of their 2010-2011 season Friday, September 10th, at 7:05pm, at the Verdun Auditorium. Recently renovated for the team, the Verdun Auditorium will host all local games where excitement, passion and energy will meet!
Hockey season is approaching, for the eight consecutive year, the Montreal Canadiens and their LRF Program welcome minor hockey coaches to the Bell Centre for the annual Tim Hortons Coaching Day.

Vous etes inviter à participer à la course Terry Fox. Nous invitons nos joueurs, entraîneurs et parents à participer en grand nombre à cette journée de levée de fond pour le cancer.
Nous vous attendons le dimanche 19 septembre prochain dès 9 h. Vous pourrez marcher ou courir 1 et 5 km dans les rues de Greenfield Park.
Inscription sur place le matin du 19 septembre et départ du 1 km à 10 h et le 5 k à 10 h 30.

I just wanted to give a brief overview on what has transpired over the summer to Greenfield park double letters. For Peewee AA nothing has changed we are still with RDL. For Bantam AA we are now with College Francais and you are required to attend the school to play Bantam AA. You can possibly make special arrangements with College Francais, this will be the responsibility of the players parents.
A few weeks back Candiac decided to leave CGS. This is due to their numbers are growing and they cannot meet the demands of ice time for Candiac players. The GPK executives had multiple meetings with the league, St-Lambert & Candiac. In the end we decided to join St-Lambert for our BB-CC program. Due to our numbers and St-Lambert these are the Teams WE ARE REQUIRED TO MAKE BY THE LEAGUE. If GPK does not send enough players to make these teams below. The league will force us to make more A-Teams. Example in Midget if we cannot make 1 BB & 1CC we will be required to make 4 A-Teams in Midget.
Atom BB=STL/GPK
Peewee BB & Peewee CC= STL/GPK
Bantam CC = STL/GPK
Midget BB & Midget CC = STL/GPK
Peewee AA = RDL
Bantam AA = College Francais (required to attend CF daytime school)
Early next week we will have meeting with St-Lambert to iron out the details for Camp dates,evaluation process,coachs,costs. Please refer to our GPK website for information. Je pense que le rôle du directeur technique implique d'aider principalement les entraîneurs a mieux gérer leur équipe de hockey lors des pratiques ou durant leurs match. J'espère comme professeur d'éducation physique je peut faire cela et j'aimerais venir sur la glace et aider n'importe quel entraîneur qui en aurait de besoin. Comme vous le savez nous sommes limités dans le temps de glace que nous avons ainsi bien la gérer est très important.Mon but cette année est d'encourager les entraîneurs à employer des jeux de petit secteur dans leurs pratiques. The role of Technical Director involves primarily helping coaches in any way to better manage their hockey team's practice, or games . I hope as a Physical Education teacher I can do that and I would love to come on the ice and help any coach in whatever capacity I could. As many know we are limited in the ice time we have so getting the most out of our ice time is that much more important. Les joueurs les aiment parce qu'ils sont amusement et ils touchent la rondelle souvent (beaucoup plus que dans un vrai match je pourrais ajouter) et les parents les aiment parce qu'ils peuvent voir leur enfant améliorer et avoir beaucoup de plaisir. Les entraîneurs qui les emploient maximisent leur espace et les joueurs pratiquent des techniques qu'il utilise dans leurs match. J'espère que les entraîneurs dans l'association les emploient et me contacteront avec toutes les questions qu'ils peuvent avoir. Si les entraîneurs ne sont toujours pas convaincus alors prendre n'importe quel joueur et compter le nombre de tir qu'il a dans un jeu ou combien de fois qu'il touche a la rondelle dans un match. La prochaine pratique faite un jeu de petit secteur pendant 15-20 minutes et compter le nombre de fois où il tire et le temps ou il touche a la rondelle dans le jeu de petit secteur. Puis quand vous voyez les nombres imaginer l'amelioration que le joueur obtiendra s'il le fait toute la saison entière. Imaginez maintenant votre équipe entière le faire. Players like them because they are fun and they touch the puck alot (much more than in a game I might add) and parents love them because they get to see their child improve and have fun. The coaches who use them maximize their space and the players practice skills that are all game related. I hope the coaches in the association use them and will contact me with any questions they may have. If coaches are still not convinced then take any random average player and count the number of shots he has in a game or how much he touches the puck in that game. Next practice use a small area game for 15-20 minutes and count the number of times he shoots and the times he touches a puck in the small area game. Then when you see the numbers imagine how much better that player will get if he does that throughout he whole season. Now imagine your whole team doing it.
